Womany: A Long-Term Partner of 5xRuby

Our relationship with Womany dates back to the early days of 5xRuby. Through Womany's ties with the Ruby community, the two teams built a long-term partnership and co-hosted several Ruby community workshops.

Since 2023, 5xRuby has been fully responsible for the maintenance and operation of Womany's systems.

In early 2026, Womany decided to launch a brand-new platform, the Wow crowdfunding platform, and entrusted the entire project to 5xRuby. Working with the brand designer, 5xRuby supported Womany from the platform's positioning, style, and brand image onward, carrying the message the platform wanted to convey to every user through its website design, user experience, and system development.

With experience building large crowdfunding systems and e-commerce platforms, 5xRuby completed a full multi-tenant system in about three months, serving platform operators, project creators, and backers.

The main challenge of this project was the number of external systems to integrate, more than comparable platforms: Womany's existing member login, email, payment, e-invoicing, and convenience store pickup systems, plus a designated warehouse logistics system. Because of the many integrations, the team paid particular attention to order and invoice tracking, so the cause of any unpaid order can be traced at any time.

Beyond the new system, 5xRuby also noticed that Womany's legacy systems had grown layer upon layer, costing a significant amount in monthly hosting. We proactively drew up a tailored plan to slim down and migrate the legacy systems, consolidating the services on the old platform with the aim of cutting monthly hosting costs by more than half, so that more of the client's budget can go toward growing the business.
